SPED 570 Principles of Applied Behavior Analysis
5 Credits
The purpose of this online course is to provide students with opportunities to learn and master basic behavior principles as a foundation to subsequent advanced courses. Students will master and build fluency with the basic principles of applied behavior analysis.
SPED 571 Behavior Analysis Assessment
3 Credits
This online course provides students with opportunities to gain information about different types of behavioral assessments, including the principles and research underlying these assessments, to apply that information to conduct functional behavior assessments.
SPED 572 Behavior Change Group Settings
3 Credits
This online course provides students with opportunities to build fluency with the basic principles of applied behavior analysis and the application of these principles to develop, implement, and evaluate programs of behavior change as they apply to children and youth with exceptional learning and behavior characteristics.
SPED 573 Behavior Change Procedures I
3 Credits
This online course provides students the skills needed to design and implement applied behavior analysis-based behavior change systems and procedures to teach socially significant behaviors.
SPED 670 Philosophy of Applied Behavior Analysis
3 Credits
Introduces students to the philosophical foundations of radical behaviorism through classic and contemporary readings in behavior analysis. Students will be prepared to understand theoretical approaches to understanding behavior, and to interpret behavior in terms of the concepts and principles of behavior analysis.
SPED 671 Experimental Research in Applied Behavior Analysis
3 Credits
This online graduate level course introduces students to the experimental analysis of behavior. This course will cover basic research with humans and non-human animals that explores behavior analytic principles and mechanisms of learning and behavior.
SPED 672 Experimental Research in ABA Lab
2 Credits - Prerequisite SPED 671
This online graduate level course provides students who have taken the experimental analysis of behavior course opportunities to apply knowledge and interpret the results of simulated experiments. This course will model and then have students engage in their own experiments that explore behavior analytic principles.
SPED 676 Ethics in Applied Behavior Analysis
5 Credits
This course focuses on the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) Ethics Code. It provides students with in-depth knowledge of the Ethical Code as well as different problem-solving frameworks to evaluate difficult situations that may arise during their practice.
SPED 677 Single Case Research Design
5 Credits
This online course focuses on basic single case design strategies and general procedures, as well as on issues related to conducting and analyzing single-case research in applied settings. The course covers general methodological information, as well as specific details about single-case designs.
SPED 678 Behavior Change Procedures II
3 Credits
This online course provides students the skills needed to design and implement applied behavior analysis-based behavior change systems and procedures to decrease challenging behaviors that have a negative impact on individuals, their families, and communities.
SPED 679 Personnel Management
3 Credits
This online course focuses on teaching students to be effective, compassionate, and culturally responsive supervisors, mentors, and collaborators. The area of emphasis will be on using collaborative and effective strategies when board certified behavior analysts liaison with professionals from other disciplines, caregivers, persons with disabilities, and supervisees (e.g., Registered Behavior Technicians and paraprofessionals).
Additional Programmatic Requirements:
SPED 601 Research in Applied Behavior Analysis
1/2 Credits
The purpose of this online course is to guide students as they complete their research portfolio for the Master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis program. Students will engage in research activities including completing a human subjects research training, and participating on a research study team.
SPED 606 Supervised Practice in Applied Behavior Analysis
2/3 Credits
The purpose of this online course is to provide students with an opportunity to apply the skills they have learned in a practical setting. Students will engage in assessment and intervention activities within their practice sites to support socially significant behavior change for their clients. This course will address practical and ethical considerations related to clinical practice.
SPED 609 Terminal Project in ABA
2 Credits
The purpose of this online course is to provide students with guidance in designing and completing their terminal research project in applied behavior analysis. The terminal research project is either a thesis or thesis equivalent. Under the supervision of their advisor, students will define the research problem, design and propose a research study to address the problem. After advisor approval of the proposal, the student will implement the study and report their findings in a written paper describing the rationale, method, outcome, and an evaluation of the outcome. Culmination of the research project will be a presentation of their study at the end of program online colloquium. A faculty committee consisting of the advisor and another faculty member will evaluate the quality of the project.
To ensure that students have high quality practicum experiences, students’ sites will need approval from the UO ABA program. UO has partnered with the Behavioral Health Center for Excellence (BHCOE) to increase students’ access to quality practice sites. The UO ABA program will automatically approve practice sites that have BHCOE accreditation.
