Freshmen planning to major in educational foundations and pursue elementary education enter the university as pre-education (PED) majors.
Typically, pre-education majors spend their first two years fulfilling general education and requirements for admission into the educational foundations major as juniors.
Pre-education status does not guarantee admission to the educational foundations major.
Incoming freshmen or transfer students
Indicate on your application to the university that you want to major in pre-education. The Office of Admissions will accept you as a “pre-education” major.
If you have already been admitted under a different major
If you want to change to “pre-education” before attending orientation, contact the Office of Admissions.
If you want to change to “pre-education” after orientation or while you are enrolled as another major, complete the Pre-Education and Educational Foundations Majors Add/Drop Form.
