Meet Remington Slicker, '21, a Family and Human Services program alumna, through our Alumni Spotlight series.
The Family and Human Services program was super awesome and helpful especially during my whole job hunting experience.
Because of COVID-19, finding a post-grad job was very difficult. I found that there was a lack of open positions for the job that I was looking for which made it difficult to find one that fit best with me. The supervisors and advisors within the FHS department were so helpful when it came to navigating which job would be the best fit for me, and helping me with interviewing skills, which I didn't have a lot of. My university supervisor that I met with in a group setting once a week was amazing. She used our class time to answer questions about searching for jobs, networking, building resumes, and practicing potential interview questions.
Like my university supervisors, my supervisors at 90by30 were just as helpful and encouraging when it came to the job hunting process. Throughout having a year long internship, I was able to explore different sides and experiences of working in human services.
Everyone in the FHS department and its coordinating field sites are so encouraging and helpful. I truly could not have done it without the help from all of the wonderful supervisors I have had and I will be forever grateful for the amazing staff, students, professors, and supervisors within the FHS department which helped guide me to get where I am today.
