Springfield Public Schools special education teacher Sally Golden was named and celebrated as Oregon’s 2025-26 Teacher of the Year. Sally, a double-duck with a degree in Educational Studies, '99 and in Middle-Secondary Special Education, '00, has been a special education teacher in the Springfield Public Schools district for 20 years.
COE Double Duck Alumni Shaheen Munir-McHill, ' 11 MS, SPED, '13 PhD, SPSY, associate professor of practice and the coordinator of Special Education K-12 license and endorsement programs at Portland State University, has been named PSU's College of Education Researcher of the Year for 2025.

Alumni Stephanie Johnson awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) , the highest recognition that a K-12 science, technology, engineering, or mathematics teacher can receive. Stephanie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the COE and has been teaching in the Bend School District for 16 years.
COE alumna, Amanda Brown, MS, CCC-SLP, was named one of Early-Career Trailblazers in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Amanda graduated from the CDS program in 2021.
This school year, Eugene School District 4J will welcome about 100 new licensed teachers into the district. Included is Keegan Caughlin a UOTeach grad from 2022. Colt Gill, BS '88 Elementary Ed, MS '98, Education Policy and Management, is the interim superintendent of 4J.
Iton Udosenata holds a BA in Ethnic Studies, an MA in Education Leadership ('05) and Doctorate in Education Methodology, Policy, and Leadership ('18) from the University of Oregon and was recently named as the new superintendent to the Tigard-Tualatin school district.
Peter Angstadt, PhD, has agreed to serve as Southern Oregon University’s interim Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA), beginning June 3. Peter earned his doctorate in educational policy and management from UO.
A SUSD release said Bare has been an educator for over twenty years. She grew up in Portland, graduating from the University of Oregon with a Master’s in Education in 2001.
