Biography

Dr. Turtura is a Research Associate at the Center on Teaching and Learning. She currently serves or has served as the Research Manager on five federally funded research grants through the Institute of Education Sciences, National Science Foundation, The Office of Innovation and Improvement (i3), and Office of Special Education Programs.

Dr. Turtura’s work is focused on the development and evaluation of intervention programs for students with or at-risk for learning difficulties, She has managed the development and evaluation of a range of teacher-led mathematics curricula including a core kindergarten program (Early Learning in Mathematics), an intervention program for first grade (FUSION) and an iPad-based intervention program focused on measurement and data analysis (Precision Math).

As the Dissemination Lead for the National Comprehensive Center on Improving Literacy, Dr. Turtura also oversees the dissemination of evidence-based products for students with literacy-related disabilities, including dyslexia. In this role, she has led the development and dissemination of numerous scientifically proven resources for educators and students.

Dr. Turtura’s research focuses on early math and reading intervention strategies and materials, factors predicting nonresponse to intervention, and schoolwide multi-tiered systems of support.
