Biography

Drew is currently a PhD student, working toward a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. He has an MS in Couples & Family Therapy from the University of Oregon, and a Bachelor’s in Classics and Ancient History (also from UO).

Drew is a systemic and relational licensed therapist and has worked clinically with individuals, couples, and families on a wide range of issues with an emphasis on providing anti-oppressive care. Drew’s research is focused on how systems theory can help guide advocacy for anti-oppressive clinical work and teaching.

Drew was born and raised in southern Oregon, and was the first person in his family to graduate from a university. He has worked in student affairs, advertising, and community mental health. Currently, he serves as the assistant dean of students at the University of Oregon, where he directs advocacy services for survivors of sexualized violence and leads the UO’s interdisciplinary student care team. Drew also maintains a small couples therapy practice in the community (currently on hiatus while he finishes his dissertation)[DS1] .

Beyond his work experience, he writes—both as a researcher and creatively. He loves cooking, and making and listening to music. He takes in the natural beauty of the PNW whenever possible. In the summer, he’s somewhere on the Oregon coast with his husband, scouting a spot to hang up a hammock and read a book.
