Alison Schmitke, Ph.D., is the Undergraduate Degree Program Director for the Educational Foundations major.  Prior to this role, Alison taught high school social studies and language arts for eight years.  Her focus is on helping future teachers understand the role of teacher and student subjectivities in the classroom and how this informs teaching practice.  Alison's research interests are grounded in a feminist post-structuralist theoretical framework as she examines the intersections of gender, race, class, and identity in classrooms and schools.
