Biography
Sarah Krowka, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Scholar with the HEDCO Institute for Evidence-Based Educational Practice in the College of Education. She specializes in school-based interventions, applying systematic review and meta-analytic methods to synthesize evidence on intervention effectiveness as well as developing and testing interventions, with a particular focus on mathematics instruction for struggling learners.
Prior to joining HEDCO, Dr. Krowka served as a Principal Research Scientist at the Instructional Research Group (IRG), where she led and contributed to numerous systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and network meta-analyses. She has held leadership roles on several large-scale evidence synthesis projects, including What Works Clearinghouse Practice Guides focused on mathematics interventions, school readiness, and supporting children with disabilities and developmental delays. Her work also includes translating research into products for educators, as well as leading and contributing to randomized controlled trials of mathematics interventions. Before pursuing research, Dr. Krowka spent her first career working directly with children and families as a special education teacher, interventionist, case manager, and early childhood educator.
