Jean Louise M. Smith, PhD, NCSP is a Research Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Center on Teaching and Learning at the University of Oregon. Her research interests include evaluating the impact of instruction on student achievement, formative assessment in reading, and multi-tiered systems of instructional support. She was recently a co-principal investigator on an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) efficacy study evaluating a multi-tiered system of instructional support in first grade reading.  Dr. Smith has 14 publications published or in press in peer-reviewed journals. Her publications have appeared in School Psychology Review, Elementary School Journal, Educational Leadership and Assessment for Effective Intervention.
