Peter Fitzgerald is a technical assistance provider to Youth Transition Programs (YTP) in 10 school districts. The YTP is a partnership between the Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation Division, Oregon Department of Education, University of Oregon, and local school districts. The goal of YTP is to improve education and employment outcomes for Oregon’s youth with disabilities. Fitzgerald currently works as transition coordinator for Thomas A. Edison High School, a small, private alternative high school in Portland, Oregon. Previously, he served as a transition coordinator for the Tigard/Tualatin School District. Fitzgerald was the State of Oregon’s transition specialist for the Office of Special Education at the Oregon Department of Education from 1995-1997. He also worked for the Beaverton School District as a transition coordinator and special educator from 1975-1995. In 1995, FitzGerald received the Direct Vocational Special Needs Support Person of the Year award for the Oregon Association of Vocational and Special Needs Personnel.
