The Schoolhouse Garden at Edison Elementary School

Following up on the success of the Courthouse Garden, this course is designed for UO students from all majors to learn about sustainable organic gardening, landscape planning, and service-learning.  In partnership with faculty and parent volunteers, as well as the students at Edison, and community partners such as The School Garden Project, we will build an urban farm devoted to teaching, learning, and feeding our community.  

In this course, you will:

  • Become knowledgeable about the benefits of school gardens and urban gardening with a social mission;
  • Develop an understanding of hunger and food insecurity in our community; and
  • Develop skills in organic gardening while working with diverse groups.
