Technical Assistance and Consulting Services (TACS) is an outreach unit in the College of Education at the University of Oregon.  We offer technical assistance, consultation, training, product development, program evaluation, and research based upon best practices in the field of special education.  TACS employs a transdisciplinary approach involving multiple stakeholders in implementing evidence-based strategies at the state, district, and school level.

TACS administers three federally funded centers concerned with the education of children with disabilities—the Western Regional Resource Center, the National Post School Outcomes Center, SIGnetwork—and a variety of other state and federal contracts and technical assistance agreements.  Services offered include program design and evaluation, policy and procedure review, meeting and conference facilitation, research and policy analysis, professional development, and individualized technical assistance on a broad variety of special education topics.  Areas of specialization in the services TACS provides include:

  • State Performance Plan/Annual Performance Reporting
  • Multi-tiered systems of support for behavior and academics
  • Early intervention/early childhood special education
  • Secondary transition planning and post-school outcomes
  • Data analysis
  • Disproportionality
  • School discipline reform
  • General supervision
  • Dispute resolution
