Leslie Stephenson, coordinator of finance and operations for the Department of Special Education and Clinical Sciences (SPECS), and the Department of Counseling Psychology and Human Services (CPHS), was recently named UO Outstanding Employee.
The annual award, sponsored by human resources, recognizes officers of administration and classified staff who demonstrate excellence on the job; exemplify key components of the university mission; foster admiration among colleagues; and model high performance standards.
In recommendation letters signed by all program directors in these large and complex departments, Leslie was lauded as being intelligent, creative, gracious, patient, attentive, and collaborative — among other traits.
"We would not operate as efficiently and as well without her. Plus, Ms. Stephenson continuously takes on new tasks with energy and enthusiasm, and manages multiple competing tasks with efficiency. In short, Leslie always goes above and beyond the ‘call of duty,’ every day and with every task," the letter went on to say.
Laura Lee McIntyre and Benedict McWhirter, department heads for SPECS and CPHS, relatively speaking, echoed many of these sentiments, adding that Leslie "builds and promotes a sense of community," and "demonstrates outstanding leadership."
