Take the Lead
Students who are in the Doctorate of Education degree program (DEd) and want to work as school administrators or in district or state education departments can simultaneously earn a preliminary administrator license (IAL). Many DEd courses cover material offered in the PreAL, making it possible to complete preliminary licensure requirements by taking an additional thirteen credits.
Application Deadlines and Process
Students enrolled in a doctoral program in Educational Methodology, Policy & Leadership may simultaneously earn a preliminary administrator license (PreAL). To apply for the PreAL portion, please complete the first page of the PreAL application. PreAL Applications are due May 2, 2017.
Requirements for the DEd/PreAL
- Hold a master's degree
- Hold, have held, or be eligible to hold a teaching license (or school pyschologist or counseling psychologist license)
- Verify three years of licensed teaching experience (or school pyschologist or counseling psychologist experience
On completion of the PreAL program a student is eligible to apply to Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission for an Preliminary Administrator License.
