Does the CHR accept OHP or other insurance?

If there is a charge for a clinic service, payment is due at the time of each session. The CHR does not bill insurance directly, but you are welcome to save your receipts and request reimbursement from your insurance company. It will be your responsibility to check with your insurance carrier to confirm that the clinic service is covered.

Can I come to the CHR if I am not a student?

Yes! We do see UO students, but the majority of our clients are from the Eugene-Springfield community at large.

Can I make special requests for a therapist?

As a training clinic, the educational needs of the student-interns must be taken into account when assigning cases. Special requests, such a therapist of a specific gender or age, cannot typically be honored. You are welcome to make your preferences known; however, the clinic often cannot accommodate special requests.

Does the Center for Healthy Relationships use a sliding fee scale?

The CHR uses a sliding scale or a reduced fee that is established based on the financial resources of each client.

Can I make an appointment while I’m on the telephone with the receptionist?

The receptionist will be happy to take down your contact information and have your call returned by someone who can help you schedule your appointment.

Can I speak to my therapist over the telephone?

Intern therapist’s schedules vary greatly so you may not always be able to reach your therapist when you call. The receptionist will be happy to take a message and have your call returned as soon as possible.

Can the receptionist tell me what time my appointment is at if I have forgotten?

Yes, in specific circumstances. The clinic needs to take precautions to make sure information is being provided to the correct person. You may be asked personally identifiable information prior to appointment times being released to you. You may only receive appointment information for your own appointment or as the parent or guardian of the client.

Is the clinic open only when school is in session?

Some services operate on the university term schedule, while others are available on an extended schedule. The clinic is closed for all university holidays and for one or more weeks between academic terms.

Does the clinic have evening or weekend hours?

The clinic is always closed on weekends but is able to offer evening hours in certain cases depending on the availability of the therapist assigned to you.

What if I need help after the clinic is closed?

The clinics do not provide 24-hour services or offer crisis counseling. For mental health emergencies, please contact the White Bird Clinic at (541) 687-4000. For non-emergencies, you are welcome to leave a message on the clinic voicemail system and your call will be returned as soon as possible during regular business hours.

Do you have walk-in services?

Services are by appointment only. The clinic is unable to provide services on a walk-in basis.
