Mark Hackett: Human Rights and Operation Broken Silence

Event date:
Wednesday, January 30, 2013 -
10:00am to 11:00am

Mark Hackett is the 25-year-old CEO and executive director for Operation Broken Silence, an emerging human rights organization that specializes in using multimedia tools to end mass atrocity crimes. He has testified to the United States Congress multiple times concerning the crisis in Sudan. Mark is the creator of the recent documentary film "Across the Frontlines: Ending the Nuba Genocide," which highlights the crisis in Sudan as well as his organization’s ability to individualize the Responsibility to Protect doctrine. Filmed on the ground in one of the world’s most dangerous war zones, "Across the Frontlines" documents eyewitness and expert testimony, and discusses ways that ordinary people can help.

Learn how Mark is marshaling the resources to end mass atrocities around the globe, including some of the world’s most dangerous places. His full presentation is Thursday, January 31 in Room 175 of the Knight Law Center.
