Prepare for the
Middle School/High School Level Teaching License
The UO Middle School/High School Education Program is a post-baccalaureate degree program leading to authorization to teach designated subjects in middle and high schools and to an optional Master's Degree in Education (M.Ed.) with a major in Teaching and Learning.

Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) uses the term authorizations for the teaching levels. The program prepares students for the initial teaching license with authorization to teach at the middle and secondary level in a primary endorsement subject.

Students admitted to the program will seek their primary endorsement in one of five designated subject areas: Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science, Physics), or Second Language (French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Spanish). Additional endorsements may be added after admission through testing, related course work, and teaching performance.

Admission Requirements:
For Summer 2010 admission information and application forms, see the UO Teach site.

Licensing Process:
Graduates of the Middle School/High School Teacher Education Program are eligible to apply to Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) for their initial teaching license with authorization for the middle and high school levels, grades 5 to 12.

The range of teaching level eligibility may be different in other states. For information about a particular state's licensure pattern, contact that state's licensure agency directly.
