EMPL is one of four departments in the College of Education. We are located in the east wing of the newly renovated Lorry I. Lokey Education Building (ED) at 1571 Alder Street. Educational Methodology, Policy, and Leadership provides both researchers and practitioners with the latest methodologies for ensuring effective student learning and professional development in our nation's K–12 school system. Graduates of our doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) program leave with an array of methodological and analytical skills necessary to create knowledge for understanding how K–12 educational systems work. Graduates of our master's and doctor of education (D.Ed.) degree programs leave with a solid understanding of problems of practice. The Ph.D. program requires full-time study on campus, as students are immersed in faculty research. Master's and D.Ed. programs are designed for working professionals, offering courses in the evenings and on weekends. The Administrator Licensure program offers students the opportunity to earn their Oregon initial or continuing administrator license. Please follow the links on the right-hand side of the page for further information about each program.
Are you considering a future in educational leadership? Graduates of the department are qualified to be principals and superintendents; curriculum specialists; consultants with school and government agencies; and researchers in educational leadership and policy, assessment and measurement, statistics and research design, reading leadership, and instructional technology.
