As a field of study, Special Education (SPED) is dedicated to the improvement of the quality and outcomes of education, employment, and community living for children and adults with special needs and their families. Students in SPED master's programs prepare for careers in educational and clinical settings, and pursue: • Special educator teacher licensure or endorsement programs • Enhanced skills as special education teachers or consultants • Employment in adult service programs for people with disabilities • The fulfillment of prerequisites for school administration or doctoral programs. Doctoral students in Special Education prepare for careers in advanced administration and educational research.
