Accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1955 (Commission on Accreditation, 750 First St. NE, Washington DC 20002-4242, 202 336-5979), the UO doctoral program in Counseling Psychology emphasizes an ecological model of training, research, and practice. Students focus research and training in prevention and treatment relevant to work with children, adolescents, families, and adults. The ecological model holds that human behavior occurs within a context of unique social, historical, political, and cultural factors. Behaviors, cognitions, and emotions are understood within these contextual influences. Students in the CPSY program are trained to view assessment, intervention, and research within the contexts of these factors. Please visit the CPSY program HOME page for more detailed information.
