Photograph Standards for the COE Website
Photographs for this site are chosen and managed by the web content and format administrators to ensure consistency of message, speed of downloading, and quality. Please contact Kathleen Heinz or Linda Mears about any photo(s) you may consider using or about obtaining photos to depict your program, group, or subject.
Photographs for the COE Website:
• Carry the sense of place of the COE that distinguishs it from other colleges of education
• Depict real people, settings, activities that typify the COE • Convey, amplify design criteria (e.g. beautiful Oregon setting, welcoming, student-centered, caring, a place to which people are proud to be connected, a place that uses information to drive learning and action) • Conform to the predefined, consistent system of size, outline, and shape: i.e., for cohesion of the publication, all photographs except for faculty and staff profiles and photo album images are square and in standard sizes determined by the most effective presentation of the content for the user. • Use the word description "photo of ___" in the "ALT TEXT" form field for the benefit of those using audio web-reading devices (e.g. ALT TEXT form field for this page says "photo of New Horizons statue at the COE") • Carry thematic visual identification on paths (e.g. using the same image for "research units" and "research resources" reinforces that the user is following an information pathway) • Unify identity of COE through use of repeated imagery on website and program brochures • Are color corrected and cropped for Web viewing • Are optimized specifically for use on the Web so as to load quickly In addition, photos used on the site conform to the following style, quality, and consistency standards established for cohesion of the publication: © 2009 University of Oregon College of Education.
